Responsibilities

The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for increasing our presence in the Seattle design community, and providing high level conceptual design at the start of projects.  The role will also have an outward facing component with substantial interactions with new and existing clients.  Senior Design Engineers will exhibit the passion and attention to design quality that represents our design values of innovation and creativity.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • 7-10 years' in consulting engineering 
  • Civil Engineering Degree required, Masters in Engineering would be considered an asset
  • Capacity for multitasking for multiple/large-scale projects, with the ability to set team priorities
  • Strong Business Development, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Manage local client relationships
  • Ability to manage time well, understanding project workflow
  • Understanding of project process and order, including procurement types
  • Understanding of general construction techniques and materials
  • Ability to communicate well with external project teams
  • Understanding of historical and current design strategies and architectural styles
  • Develops an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the firm's project portfolio and services offered

Primary Duties

  • Ensure creativity and innovation in project design and detailing
  • Determine structural systems and overall structural behavior
  • Correspond with Project Architect and other design team members
  • Work to further build relationships with new and existing clients, with the potential to grow into a role helping to find new clients.
